My party of four got in pretty quickly. We had a seat upstairs in the middle of the room. It was comfy enough. The décor is funny, if a little over the top. Very tourtisty.

The food was pretty good. About what you expect from a Mexican restaurant where there aren't a lot of people who know what Mexican should taste like (I'm from So Cal and have been to Mexico many times so I feel I do have a good idea.) Bland and not very flavorful. And for some reason an odd emphasis on citrus.

For instance, I ordered the at-your-table guacamole. And they put oranges in it. I have never in my life added oranges or lemons into guacamole. What is that all about? Another example, I got unsweet tea (with no lemon) and it was filled with literally 5 of the 6 slices necessary for a whole, small lemon in the bottom. It was like an Arnold Palmer. I took all the lemon out and put it together into an almost full lemon and could do nothing but laugh. When I got a refill, the server didn't fill my cup or notice/care that my lemon was outside my drink. She just brought me a whole other lemon in a new cup of iced tea. Gag.

Even if the food was just ok and there is way too much citrus I'd still have been ok with the restaurant if our server wasn't totally rude. I mean, like to us. Not in a fun, sarcastic, playful way. But a, "oh. Did she just say that" while we all look at each other awkwardly. We tried to encourage her and were very nice to her. But she was clearly not loving serving that day.

After we spent a ton of money here and did our best to enjoy it we wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't come back again. Mediocre food, poor service, and overpriced in my opinion.

So after a pretty full day we found the evening/night slipping away and still nothing resolved for dinner. Back to trusty Yelp to help us find something that was open. Always up for Mexican and close by, this was a pretty easy choice.

As we went up the stairs the waitress greeted us and let us know they were only serving food for approx. 15 minutes and we'd need to get our orders in if we wanted food. Also, the inside seating area was in the process of getting transformed for what would become a dance floor and bar only area. So they escorted us to the roof (which is really where we wanted to be anyway) with a nice view of the strip and all the lighting.

My gf and I were not exceptionally hungry so we decided to share the Houston platter. The Houston platter was a pretty good portion for the two of us to share especially with the chips and salsa. The pork tamale was literally one of my favorite tamale's ever! I would get an order of only tamale's if I find myself back here again (I think this was both our favorites). The enchiladas were good and not too spicy, and the taco was really pretty good as well (probably my second favorite). Rice was good. I liked the salsa, my bf didn't though. One of my key ways of ranking a Mexican restaurant is how the Salsa is...this one is ok but I'd probably only rank it as a 3 star.

The boys ordered the taco trio and the steak fajitas. Both really liked their meals and did a great job finishing everything. To the extent we couldn't even bribe a sample of fajita meat (well maybe one bite...but that was it).

Staff was friendly and never made us feel rushed even though the kitchen was closing down. Our waiter even came out and apologized, because we were drinking sweet tea and the kitchen dumped it out. He let us get refills of whatever else we wanted (soft drink related).

We enjoyed the food and the service and would come back again.

It's slim pickings for Mexican food in Gatlinburg and this place is evidence of that.   The rooftop patio is a tually pretty nice, but the food is pretty mediocre (or even bad in some cases).   The salsa has a weird taste to it which is pretty off-putting.   The sau e for the taquitos is also weird and tastes more Italian than Mexican.    Service is slow and we never actually received our drinks from the bar (it was taking so long we told the waiter to cancel our drink order) so we just had water.

There's a mechanical burro (bull in disguise) that you can pay to ride (and get thrown off of).

This is maybe one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. Very very slow service. Our waiter showed up after us waiting for about 10 minutes. We asked for water and she said "I was already going to bring you water."

We ordered the stuffed jalapeños as an appetizer. That was a mistake. For some reason the jalapeños still have all of their seeds. Unless you have an iron stomach, it is really hard to eat a jalapeño with all of the seeds still in it. My husband and I each bit into one and got a mouthful of seeds (see picture).  Our appetizer also came out about 15 seconds before our entrees.

My food order came out completely wrong. When I asked the server about it she said "that's the way it comes" even though my order was missing half of its ingredients.

No one ever bussed our table. No one ever refilled our waters. I also managed to write this entire review while waiting for our check.

    Do not eat here!!!!
